Knockout

A knockout (known as ring-out in traditional fighting games) occurs when a player leaves or is forced to leave (ie. knocked out of) the fighting area. In all Super Smash Bros. games, this results in a loss of a life. In some modes of Super Smash Bros. Brawl, the player who knocks out an opponent earns a point. When the player falls out of the ring and loses a life there is a large colored explosion followed by a yell from the charecter.
