The Dawn Patrol (or DP for short) is a gaming crew primarily dedicated to the Super Smash Bros. franchise. The members are spread vastly among the globe, making actual gameplay difficult. They relate mostly through discussing the series on SmashBoards, and hope to be more closely connected through the confirmed online play in Super Smash Bros. Brawl. They plan on playing with and against each other casually rather than competitively. The crew is currently allied with Shining Fists.

[edit] Crew History
The crew was conceived on the 5th of July, some time after the start of the daily weekday updates on the Smash Bros. DOJO!! website. The name "Dawn Patrol" was coined as a joke term by Got Blood? referring to those that stayed up until dawn waiting for the daily update (being that the updates take place between 12-3 AM in the Americas). It was quickly carried further and developed into an actual group.
On July 10th, The Dawn Patrol got their first real coverage ever. They were the shout out in Youko's first "The DOJO!! Podcast".
Shortly after an invitation mishap in mid-July, the Patrol decided to go invite-only, seeking out new members on their own terms instead of accepting 'applications', worried that they would get too many people only wanting to hop on the bandwagon and over-populate the group.
Recently the crew has been receiving criticism for spamming, and, in more personal attacks, lack of skill at SSBM. The controversy of the DP's spam has been slowly becoming more widely known since the crews conception, starting with other members telling them to ease off a bit and resulting in new, tighter rules on the DP's 'home' thread by Scav, one of the SWF moderators. On July 27th, Blackadder became official Co-leader of the DP in partnership with Got Blood?
In very late July, the crew's "home thread" began to develop into an off-topic spam and excessive curse fest. Ironically, most of DP was not present and did not contribute to the mess, after many members lessened their spam habits to help regain a positive reputation for the crew. Many members of the crew began to feel not at home in the thread ever since then.
This change in the thread eventually lead to it being locked, with DP being generally blamed for the incident. Sadly, it wasn't actually the Dawn Patrol members that urged Scav into closing the thread, and other, non-DP members, that spammed it up instead. A new thread, The Official OMG Tonight Prediction Thread descended from the old "home thread" and is now the new DP area to talk about updates.
On the 12th of August 2007, Dawn Patrol got their official forums.
Soon after the official DP forums came up, DP allied with Omneox of Smash, on the 24th of August. The Omneox/DP alliance didn't lst long however, as Omneox shut down quickly, changing into the again short lived crew, "Smashdown". Smashdown soon combined with Shining Fists, taking all of Dawn Patrol with it.

Got Blood? (Crew Co-Leader): Got Blood? is a 17 year old high school student hailing from Santa Cruz, CA. She's often looked at as the founder and leader of the Dawn Patrol. Her main is Mario, and while a former user of the wavedashing technique, she has since given up the technique and prides herself on outsmarting her opponents by constantly thinking of ways to counterattack and position herself against any various attacks that would be performed. Her preferred method of attack is shorthopping and air combos to rack up plenty of damage.
Blackadder (Crew Co-Leader): Somewhat of the “black sheep” of the crew (he doesn't have to wait till dawn for the "DOJO" update, only until noon), Blackadder is a 15-year-old Australian high school student. He has so far been able to grasp the wavedash with his main, Ganondorf, but usualy he uses mindgames, which he prides himself heavily on. He was somewhat infamous for accidentally moving off-topic, and spamming up the "***What's going on with super smash brothers.com***" thread. He also has the highest post count on SWF of all the DP members, due to his old posting obsession. On Friday the 13th of June, he achieved his goal to reach 1000 posts in under a month of membership of SWF, averaging around the 39+ posts a day mark. He was also the one to first utter, "It's music today, I can feel it". His "Brawl Viewpoint" was also featured on Youko's second Podcast.
Cless-Mint: Cless is 16, lives in Natchitoches, Louisiana and is a junior in high school. He is a guitarist. Cless likes just about any type of music except pop and rap. On SSBM, his main is Marth, though he also uses Roy and Link. He, unlike some of the others, can wavedash, although it doesn't help much because he can't shuffle. His 'mindgames' involve annoying opponent(s) by talking and/or slapping the controllers out of their hands. Cless also makes website signatures and banners for the crew. Cless was also the first, and only, person to say, "Music tonight. Definitely...” Cless's "Brawl Viewpoint" was featured in Youko's third podcast.
TakDragon7: TakDragon7 is a 17-year-old who is a senior at high school in Farmington, New Mexico. His main is Bowser, which he has been using for a long time. He is still trying to master the wavedash, but will soon.
DonkeySmasher: A 17-year-old who is a senior in Pleasanton, California (near San Francisco), DonkeySmasher enjoys watching sports and playing many Nintendo games. He plays low tiered characters like DK, Yoshi, and Bowser. While he doesn't use many advanced techniques, many of his friends are shocked by his effort and unpredictable moves causing worry in close games. DonkeySmasher also has an unusual memory of trivia in the Mario and DK series.
Salaad: Salaad is a 15 year old who goes to high school in Irvine, California and likes to play as Marth, Shiek, and Falco. He is looking forward to Super Smash Bros. Brawl, but will still play Super Smash Bros. Melee. He is Iranian. He does not attend until the update, or he randomly posts.
Chibirobo: Chibirobo is a 15 year old who is going to high school in Michigan. He loves pop culture in all of its forms, bordering on obsession. His mains include Mr. Game and Watch, Roy, Jigglypuff, and Ganondorf. He is looking forward to Super Smash Brothers Brawl, and would be fine with most characters making it into the game (with a few exceptions). On Smashboards he tends to ask stupid questions, and has sometimes referred to himself as the "Village Idiot" of the Dawn Patrol. He also tends not to stay awake until the update happens. In fact, he has only been up at the time of the update once.
Meta-Kirby: Meta-Kirby is a 15 year old who goes to high school in North Carolina. Being a junior olympic springboard diver, he devotes much of his time to academics, sports, and of course, Super Smash Bros. In Super Smash Bros. Brawl, he uses Fox, Falco, Captain Olimar, and Kirby.. On Smashboards, Meta-Kirby tries his best to amend fights, post logically, and find interesting subliminal tidbits in the updates.

Fanewgie (a.k.a. KXN) took his leave from the Patrol shortly after their home thread on SWF was locked. Locked due to severe over-spam, caused by members outside of the Dawn Patrol, the crew was still blamed for the spam and having the thread locked. In reality, the Dawn Patrol got their members to calm down weeks prior, yet the thread's spam was still consistently labeled as the crew's work.
Usually having logical, intelligent and on-topic posts, he chose to leave so that his reputation wouldn't be stained by the wrongdoing of others, even if it wasn't actually members of DP doing wrong.

Music enthusiasm: A common trend with DP members is a solid belief that every DOJO!! update will be music. Some members truly believe this while others think hoping for it will jinx their chances into getting a different, unexpected update.
The crew commonly uses the phrase (originally coined by Blackadder), "It's music today, I can feel it." This tradition is carried on by DonkeySmasher, Cless-Mint, TakDragon7, and Blackadder himself.
Spamming habits: Many members of the crew have developed an infamous habit of spamming threads, specifically ***What's going on with Smashbros.com?*** where they hold their predictions as to what the upcoming update will hold. They do a bad job of keeping their posting on topic, but things frequently digress into everyday chatter and jokes.
Home threads: The Dawn Patrol has a history of meeting up at a regular thread and dubbing it their "home". While the late ***What's going on with Smash Brothers DOJO!!.com? thread was the main base of DP talk, excessive spamming ended in it being locked. A new thread, The Official OMG Tonight Prediction Thread has since become the DP "Home" thread.
Alliance with Omneox Of Smash: Soon after the official DP forums came up, Omneox Of Smash offered to form an alliance with the crew. After a few weeks of waiting for a final decision, many Dawn patrol members forgot about the offer. Eventually Blackadder got sick of this, and "Took the bull buy the balls" and made the alliance official on the 24'th of August, 2007.
"Crew talk": The Dawn Patrol has some odd sayings, quotes, or net talk. Many of these were coined from Cless-Mint and Blackadder. The crew talk is, like some other aspects of the crew, sometimes criticized.
