[edit] Talk Pages

Wikia has this nifty little reminder after you delete a page saying "did you remember to delete its talk page?"....but why? You should NOT delete a talk page from the back end of a community just because the article itself was deleted. The deletion is typically a result of what happened in the talk page and it is more than worthwhile to keep a record of those discussions, especially when the local administrative community already suffers from a divide over what constitutes a legitimate article. I've noticed this for a long time but haven't run into a problem with lost talk pages until I noticed a "new" article called Sandbagging today, which I know is not a new article...which means it was deleted at some point, but there's no record of the discussion that led up to the deletion (if there was one), because the old talk page is gone. Can we revise this little message suggesting that deleting a talk page is a good idea? --RJM Talk 19:38, 21 June 2008 (UTC)
