Butterfree (バタフリー Butterfree in Japan) is a Pokémon of the type Bug/Flying. It is also number #012 in the Regional and Kanto PokéDexes. It has also the species "Butterfly Pokémon". Its name is a combination of butterfly and free, while itself is based on the Cabbage White butterfly, Aporia crataegi more specifially.
